Wild Women Camping is all about encouraging more women to get outdoors and improve their confidence in the outdoor environment. A night camping on the hill can seem pretty daunting if you don’t have the necessary outdoor skills and confidence. Therefore we offer training in navigation, camp craft, camping equipment and etiquette so you can get out there and experience the wild on your own, or with other like-minded friends.
I have always been into the outdoors after growing up in the Yorkshire Dales. As a child I enjoyed cycling and loved walking in the countryside with the occasional bird watching foray thrown in. As an adult I eventually fell into teaching and spent fifteen years as a Physics teacher. Whilst in school I got involved with helping out with Ten Tors and the Duke Of Edinburgh Award. Later I joined the Royal Air Force Air Cadets as a Reserve and became a squadron commander and also the Wing Ten Tors trainer. I now work as a freelance instructor and expedition leader for a number of different companies. I have led expeditions to Iceland, Borneo and Malawi and have recently summited peaks such as Mt Toubkal in Morroco and Stok Kangri in the Himalayas. My enthusiasm for Adventurous Activities has not waned and I would like to encourage more women to get into the outdoors, hopefully this experience will help you make new friends, grow in confidence and foster a greater love for the outdoors.
